Artery, External Carotid
The external carotid artery (ECA) is one of the two branches of the common carotid artery (CCA). It supplies the face and neck.
Cases
1
- Occipital artery
- Facial artery
- Superficial temporal artery
- Parietal branch of the superficial temporal artery
- Frontal branch of the superficial temporal artery
- Middle meningeal artery
- Posterior division of the middle meningeal artery
- Anterior division of the middle meningeal artery
- Internal maxillary artery
- Middle deep temporal artery
- Anterior deep temporal artery
- Infraoribal arteray
- Sphenopalatine artery
- Descending palatine artery
- Superior alveolar artery

- Cyan arrow: Middle meningeal artery entering the foramen spinosum.
- White arrow: Hairpin turn of the superficial temporal artery over the zygomatic process.

CTA 3D Reconstruction
There is no ECA originating from the right CCA.
DSA - Right CCA Injection (PA and Lateral)
It seems there is an anastomosis between the cavernous segment of the right ICA and the right internal maxillary artery (yellow arrow).
DSA - Right CCA Injection (3D)
Comments
- The absence of the right ECA could be due to congenital vs complete occlusion as a result of severe atherosclerotic disease.
